About Robbay

My pen name is Robbay. The name comes from my name Robert and my dog Bay.
I have been an artist all my life. I spent many an hour drawing cartoons of Mickey Mouse, Superman, and Steve Cannon, back when kids laid on the floor in front of the radio. Yes the radio, your imaginations really went wild. All through school I was one of the kids  that did the cartoons our school paper, and what ever else required a drawing or cartoon. I went off to art school and stopped cartooning for more serious endeavors such as painting and sculpting. I got my Bachelors from Memphis Academy of Arts and then headed to Syracuse University for my Masters. Now, this was in 1969 to 1971 well  I surely was glad the army didn’t want me and I got to continue my education.
After graduate school I spent some years teaching art and trying to become a famous artist. I did make a good stab at it, but after many years of exhibiting with group and one-person shows in New York and Chicago I gave it up. I laid down my brushes for a twenty-year stretch and became an antique dealer. Now that I’m a junior old fart I felt the desire to bring something different to my pursuit of a website business. I got out my pencils and pens at the suggestion of my youngest daughter, and here I am pouring out cartoons everyday and having a great time. Just goes to show it takes some of us a long time to find ourselves in this life. I love making the cartoons, and I hope everyone will enjoying them as well.
